Eagles Name Langlois Captain, Gravel & Ivan as Alternate Captains for the 2022-23 Season

The Cape Breton Eagles have named defenceman Jérémy Langlois as team captain for the 2022-23 season, with Eagles’ veteran Ivan Ivan and offseason acquisition Zachary Gravel serving as alternate captains.

Wearing the “A” last season, Langlois has been a fixture on the backend of the Eagles lineup since joining the team as a 16-year-old in the 2019-20 QMJHL season. The 6’01” 185lb defenceman finished tenth in QMJHL scoring for a defenceman last season, notching 13 goals and 34 assists for 47 points in 60 games played, which lead to him being drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the third round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

The 20-year-old Ivan led the Eagles in points and goals, and tied for the lead in assists in the 2021-22 season, recording 31 goals and 34 assists for 65 points in 65 games played. The 5’11” 180lb forward enters his third season with the Eagles, after being drafted in the first round, #35 overall in the 2019 CHL Import Draft. In his Eagles career, Ivan has recorded 42 goals and 45 assists for 87 points in 127 games.  Ivan also represented his native Czechia in this year’s World Junior Hockey Championships.

Saint-Samuel, QC- native Gravel, a newcomer to the Eagles after being acquired from the Quebec Remparts in the offseason, is no stranger to the QMJHL; having played for the Remparts, Victoriaville Tigres, and Gatineau Olympiques during his Q career. In 2021-22, Gravel, a 6’02” 190lb forward, finished with 27 goals and 18 assists for 45 points in 66 games played for the Quebec Remparts. In his career, Gravel has 30 goals and 23 assists for 53 points in 86 games played, while also scoring 4 goals and 6 assists in 21 games played in the playoffs. Gravel won a QMJHL President’s Cup with the Victoriaville Tigres in 2020-21 season.

This new leadership group will play their first game with their new letters when the Eagles open the 2022-23 season at home against the Moncton Wildcats on Friday, September 23rd, at Centre 200.
