Eagles Make Two Trades On Deadline Day

The Cape Breton Eagles completed a pair of trades on Thursday afternoon.

The Eagles have traded forward Dawson Stairs (2002-01-25) to Charlottetown in exchange for forward Matis Ouellet (2005-02-11) and Charlottetown’s sixth round draft pick in 2023.

In a deal also involving several draft choices, the Eagles have traded forward Connor Trenholm (2003-08-05) to Saint John in exchange forwards Carter McCluskey (2003-08-17) and Charles Savoie (2003-01-14). The draft picks being exchanged in the trade are as follows:

To Cape Breton: Round 1/2024, Round 2/2023, Round 3/2024, Round 7/2024, Round 8/2024 (all draft choices originally belonging to Saint John)

To Saint John: Round 2/2023, Round 3/2022, Round 3/2023*, Round 3/2024 *Choice originally belonged to Blainville-Boisbriand, all other choices originally belonging to Cape Breton

The trades come as the QMJHL concluded its annual winter trading period on Thursday. Earlier this week, in addition to the trades, the Eagles signed import forward Peter Repcik (2004-01-09).

The Eagles’ next scheduled game is Saturday, January 22nd at home against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Fans are advised to stay tuned to the team website and social media for any updates regarding scheduling.
