Eagles Draft 17 Players, Trade For Veteran Defenseman On Draft Day Two

After choosing three players on the opening night of the QMJHL draft, the Eagles acquired a veteran defenseman and drafted another 17 players on day two of the event, highlighted by goaltender Louka Cloutier in the second round.

Today the Eagles chose at least one player in every round up until round 13, selecting multiple times in rounds three, eight, and twelve, before finishing up with two selections in the QMJHL’s American Draft.  Between the two drafts, including the opening night first round, the Eagles selected ten forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders.

The Eagles also added 19 year old defenseman Justin Bergeron in a trade with the Gatineau Olympiques (in addition to Gatineau’s sixth round pick in 2024).  In exchange, the Eagles sent the 35th overall pick to Gatineau.  Last season Bergeron scored once and added six assists, with a +5 rating, while playing 63 games for Gatineau.

In trading pick #27 to Bathurst in exchange for pick #49 (Étienne Desjardins), the Eagles also added Val-d’Or’s second round draft pick in 2023 & Moncton’s fourth round draft pick in 2024. The Eagles also traded up for an additional eighth round pick- moving picks 149 & 235 to Saint John for the 142th pick (Luc-Antoine Labbé).
