Screaming Eagles To Host Meet The Team BBQ In Membertou
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and the community of Membertou are teaming up to host a free “Meet The Team” event at the Membertou Sport & Wellness Centre on Wednesday, August 30th. The general public is invited to attend and meet the Screaming Eagles players for the first time after the official 2017-18 roster has been finalized.
From 6 PM to 7 PM there will be a free barbecue, with fans having a chance to meet all members of the Screaming Eagles. The Screaming Eagles players will also be signing autographs and pictures for those in attendance. Prior to the barbecue, the Wellness Centre is hosting a free skate from 5 PM to 6 PM for the general public. The YMCA is also participating in the event, providing free activities, including a jump and bounce, from 5 PM to 7 PM.
August 30th marks a celebration for the one year anniversary of the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. The Centre is housing the first portion of Screaming Eagles training camp, including this weekend’s exhibition games against the Halifax Mooseheads and the Moncton Wildcats. “The community of Membertou is thrilled to welcome the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles to the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre” said Membertou Chief Terry Paul.
Paul continues, “To have such a high calibre of hockey played on our ice is exciting for the entire community. We hope to continue hosting the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the off-season at our facility, and wish them well in their 2017-18 season.”
Fans looking to purchase tickets for the two weekend exhibition games can do so at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre Box Office as well as the Centre 200 Box Office. Tickets for the final home exhibition game, which will take place September 9th at the Emera Centre in North Sydney against the Charlottetown Islanders, can be purchased at the box offices of Centre 200 and the Emera Centre. Sales for all three games are cash only.
The Screaming Eagles play their regular season home opener on Friday, September 29th, against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
