Eagles To Finish Regular Season Against Wildcats
The QMJHL regular season concludes on Saturday with all 18 teams in action, and the Screaming Eagles will finish the schedule against the Moncton Wildcats.
Heading into the game, Cape Breton sits in eighth in the QMJHL with the possibility to move up as high as sixth. The Eagles sit one point back of Chicoutimi and two points behind Bathurst. Moncton is out of playoff contention and looking to pick up just their second win following the Christmas break.
Cape Breton’s record stands at 38-25-4, playing 17-16 on the road. Moncton holds a record of 14-50-3, playing 9-21-3 at home. Saturday’s game is the ninth meeting of the season between the two sides. The Eagles have won seven of eight prior matchups, including two of three at the Moncton Coliseum.
For the Eagles the top line has been carrying the load, as Giovanni Fiore leads the league with 50 goals, Massimo Carozza has 20 points in his last 13 games, while Drake Batherson has produced at a point a game clip through his last six matchups. For the Wildcats, Julien Tessier has led the team in scoring since being dealt there in January with 24 points in 33 games, while Alex Renaud has five points in his last four games including a hat trick against Cape Breton.
