It’s the battle of black and gold tonight as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles pay visit to the Victoriaville Tigres.
For the Eagles it’s game three of a four game road trip, and the club is looking to snap a four game losing streak. The Eagles sit in a three way tie for eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 3-6 (2-3 on the road). The Tigres are 3-4-1, tied for fifth in the Western Conference and with a record of 2-1 on home ice at Colisée Desjardins. The two sides split meetings last year, with the home team winning both times.
In the early part of the season a pair of 20 year olds have helped carry the offense for the Tigres, when in the lineup. Simon Lafrance has seven goals in nine games, and six points in his last three outings. Mathieu Sévigny has been limited to two games this season due to injury, but has four points in two games when healthy.
Victoriaville has received impressive goaltending from 19 year old Tristan Côté-Cazenave, who has played in seven of eight of his team’s games. He’s notched a save percentage of 927 for his efforts.
Thus far for Cape Breton Egor Sokolov and Mathias Laferrière had led the scoring for the Eagles, both averaging more than a point a game. Sokolov, who scored in his last night’s game, has goals in six of nine games this season.
Tonight’s game begins at 8 PM, and you can catch all the action beginning with the pre-game show at 7:30 on 1270 CJCB (or online at cjcbradio.com) with Patrick McNeil. Go Eagles Go!
