The Screaming Eagles longest road trip of the season begins tonight in Blainville-Boisbriand as they pay a visit to the the Armada. Tonight is the first game of a three games in three night stretch on the road, and the opening of a six game trek that will take place over nine days.
It’s the only visit to Blainville-Boisbriand of the season for the Eagles, who were defeated 5-1 in October at Centre 200 by the Armada. Heading into tonight Cape Breton is fourth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 32-16-5 (15-8-2 on the road) while Blainville-Boisbriand is seventh in the Western Conference at 19-33-2 (11-4-2 at home). The Armada had been in the mix for home ice in the Western Conference but have dropped 11 of their last 13 games.
Cape Breton comes in tonight off of a five game homestand which saw the club post a record of 2-1-2. It concluded with a 4-2 victory over Halifax on Saturday, in a game where Derek Gentile, Mitchell Balmas, and Leon Gawanke all recorded two point nights.
Blainville-Boisbriand has some familiar faces in the lineup, including one playing his final game against Cape Breton. Tyler Hylland was dealt from the Eagles to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the pre-season, and after playing two games against the Eagles with the Drakkar, he was sent to Blainville-Boisbriand (the team from which the Eagles acquired him from) at the trade deadline.
A former Eagle draft pick, Antoine Rochon, has been heating up as of late for the Armada. After being chosen in the 2017 draft he was moved in the deal that sent Antoine Crête-Belzile to the Eagles in the off-season, he cracked the Blainville-Boisbriand lineup this season. Having recorded just four points through his first 39 games, he is now on a six game point streak.
Puck drop for tonight’s game is at 8:30 PM, and you can catch all the action beginning with the pre-game show at 8:00 with Patrick McNeil on 1270 CJCB (or online at cjcbradio.com). Go Eagles Go!
