BOUCHERVILLE, Monday May 8, 2017 – After having watched hundreds of games and scrutinized thousands of players this season, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Central Scouting published today its final prospects ranking list for the next entry draft, which will be held at Harbour Station in Saint John on Saturday, June 3rd.
The first round is composed of 13 forwards and 5 defenseman. As the top draft-eligible player we have Alexis Lafrenière from the St-Eustache Vikings in the Quebec Midget AAA League.
Alexis fully deserves to be the top of his class for the 2017 entry-draft. He’s a spectacular player and a really good skater. There’s always something positive taking place when he’s on the ice. He’s able to play in the three zones and quickly spot the empty space to enter it and create scoring opportunities. He makes his teammates better and his sense of play allows him to be an elite player.
In the Maritimes, this year’s top prospect is Alex Newhook, from York Simcoe in Newfoundland, who comes in 5th on the list.
