SYDNEY – The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced today that Andre Cote has stepped down from his position as team president and member of the Executive Committee.
Cote has been involved with the team for the last 21 seasons and has held the position as team President for the past six seasons.
“It has been my honour and privilege to have contributed, in whatever capacity I could, to the success of our team over the past 21 seasons,” said Cote. “The health and well being of the franchise has always been top of mind. The sustainability of Major Junior Hockey, for our Cape Breton Community, has always been a priority of mine.”
“The only constant in life is change itself and I believe in change as a necessity for continued growth and success. In that regard it is my sincere hope that this change is exactly what is needed for the organization,” added Cote.
Cote will continue to hold a position on the Screaming Eagles Board of Directors.
“Andre has made a tremendous contribution to the Screaming Eagles organization and always had the team’s best interest at heart,” said Stuart MacLeod, chairman of the Screaming Eagles Board of Directors. “The board of directors owes Andre a debt of gratitude for his diligent work as President.”
The Screaming Eagles Board of Directors will establish a process and timeline for naming of a new President over the coming weeks.
